Ashton Campbell had to fight to get attention since the day he was born. His mother, a tireless foster parent and devout Jehova Witness was too busy taking care of Ashton's siblings to pay much attention. She knew aside from food, clothes and shelter, that he was self sufficient. Still, Ashton craved attention from adults and found out if he made them laugh, he could squeeze out some attention, or at least earn a dollar or two. Despite moments of neglect, Ashton learned his lessons from both of his parents. The first was that the hustle was only cool if you could do it with a proper job. The second being don't dumb yourself down because that's what is expected of you. Although his parents had strong ethics, they saw their small neighborhood in the Bronx slowly changing as they were losing friends left and right to drugs and the AIDS crises. While his parents saved their money Ashton did his best to survive in grammar school, but felt lost in the cultural dynamic. He didn't realize he was the only Black kid in his class until he got made fun of for how he sounded. No matter how hard her tried to fit in, the kids picked at his hair and sneered at his clothes. After a few years of saving up, in 1993 the Campbells moved Ashton and his two siblings to Lithonia, ATL. for a better life. While they all moved on with their lives, Ashton was still picked on for his "white inflection" and his "weird clothes." Instead of getting upset he hid most of the pain he suffered through school and put it into his homework, excelling in most subjects with the exclusion of gym class. With the new start up of his mother's foster care service, Ashton's idolization of Eddie Murphy, and the funny songs he would spit in homage finally gained a willing audience of toddlers, kids, and children a bit older than him. By the time high school rolled around, he honed his skills as a "little comedian," as his father would call him, he tutored kids in his class and saved up money to apply to Columbia University to see if he could make it on his own and return to his roots. It was there that he found his people, likeminded creatives that weren't colorblind, but conscious of his voice. In his freshman year it was suggested he try his hand at sketch writing outside of his course work, so Ashton joined The PIT in 2003. With a case of self-diagnosed ADHD Ashton tried his hand at DJaying and rapping during house parties as a way to pick up women, which to his surprise ended up working. Soon his rhyming became a quick passion that he eventually nurtured. By the beginning of his senior year he was writing and performing in two main show troupes, and at the end of his senior year he had gotten the attention from NBC and by graduation, after sending his tape and portfolio of character sides to the powers that be he was hired to write and edit for 30 Rock. After a year under 30 Rock, he decided to quit when he was offered a role on the series Community. Although he was enjoying working as a paid actor, Ashton still yearned to utilize his own voice away from a network series. This resulted in getting signed to a record label Glassnote and releasing his fifth mixtape Culdesac, which broke him into the music industry, albeit he wasn't met with a warm embrace by the community. He wasn't deterred by the challenge, and was actually excited by the wall that was built. Knocking that wall down was all he needed to focus all of his nights on what would be his first studio album with Camp. Despite his success and a Grammy nomination he would tell anyone that asked that he still has a long way to go. No one's getting rid of the loud mouthed little comedian.

And everything else soon.

one Does suffers from some anxiety and an inability to create any form of relationship. Strangers, crowd and buzzing attention given to him contribute to his need for solitude and disappearing act. He's awkward at best, a brute at his worst.

two His first marriage was filled with separation and reconciliations; a third child was conceived and born with hopes to fix what was left of this union. Unfortunately, the relationship was too weak and the couple officially divorced in 2000 after fourteen years.
